2023 was a blockbuster year for Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh; But how will 2024 fare without them?

Bollywood had a great year in 2023 with films of all the big stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, etc. making a splash at the box office. But 2024 might be a dull year for the fans as none of these stars will have a film release (the same thing happened in 2022 but that was because of the pandemic). Aamir Khan is the only exception who has a film slated for Christmas. But he is known for postponing his films and so many are doubtful if he’ll stick to the schedule. SRK will make a brief appearance in Sujoy Ghosh’s next film, where he’ll share the screen with his daughter Suhana Khan. But since it’s a small part, the film won’t be able to match the collections of Pathaan or Jawan.

According to Raj Bansal, who runs Entertainment Paradise in Jaipur, “2023 was a phenomenal year. In fact, I think it was the highest-grossing year ever. But I am not very optimistic about 2024. There will be no films of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. Nor will we see Ranbir Kapoor on the big screen.”

Akshaye Rathi, a film exhibitor and distributor, concurred that the Khans, Ranbir and Ranveer Singh will be absent, but he added that “2024 will also have a diverse blend of some Hindi blockbusters and a lot of Telugu heavyweights. This year, only Prabhas had a film among the young Telugu stars. Next year, we will see films of Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Mahesh Babu, etc, which are truly Pan-India films. Moreover, in the latter half of 2024, Hollywood will make a comeback. With these three industries, I am confident we’ll have a decent figure at the box office.”

Komal Nahta, a trade expert, said, “The Khans have no films coming out. It’s a gloomy start to the new year. But I think there are other commercial films lined up for release like Singham Again, Fighter, Pushpa 2 – The Rule, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Welcome To The Jungle, etc. It’s obvious that it won’t be as good as 2023. But even without the Khans, we may have a very exciting and profitable year. People are saying ‘There is no film’. What they mean is ‘There is no Khan film’. But honestly, only one Khan worked this year (Shah Rukh Khan). So, we shouldn’t be sad that there are no Khan films. There are others who’ll take the lead.”
