Love Aaj Kal traces the intricate relationship between protagonists Jai Vardhan Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and Meera Pandit (Deepika Padukone). Throughout their emotional journey, the characters experience various challenges that push their compatibility to its limits as they learn about themselves through their flailing romance. Also in the cast were the late Rishi Kapoor, together with Rahul Khanna and Giselli Monteiro.
The Break-Up Scene Inspired by Real Life
In movie Jai and Meera throw a wedding-style celebration instead of a traditional breakup ceremony to mark their separation. While working on college projects, Imtiaz Ali witnessed a pair of graduating seniors hold a party for their breakup, so this became the inspiration behind the breakup sequence in Love Aaj Kal. Director Imtiaz Ali explained that artistic creativity emerges from life situations while art influences further life experiences.
Love Aaj Kal 2’s Mixed Reception
The follow-up movie 2 brought together Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan but failed to reproduce the magic of the original movie released two decades ago. This movie premiered without producing sufficient impact on the box office results.
