Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, is set for release on IMAX screens, finally closing the gap over weeks of speculation around the same. The bookings on IMAX started off on March 25 in 2D formats, but fans weren’t sure as the advance booking was done, only to be pushed back later. Still, the official confirmation has come so that Sikandar will, indeed, be hitting IMAX screens March 30.
Limited IMAX Shows for Sikandar

Sikandar has a massive fanbase, but they face tough competition in South India, where we’ve had Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan claiming IMAX slots. While L2 Empuraan has the majority of the slots for new releases, Sikandar has been given one or two shows to play in cinema screens in Bengaluru and Chennai.
The film will initially secure additional screens in Mumbai and in North India, but some multiplexes, like Inox Jio World Plaza, have not yet decided to prioritize L2 Empuraan there.
Three-Way IMAX Clash from April 4

Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie opens in IMAX 3D on April 4 to add to the competition. The film appeals strongly to gamers, and Jason Momoa’s star power should help it attract lots of IMAX audiences.
As a result, the show allocation becomes highly competitive as it has never been before due to an unprecedented three-way clash between Sikandar L2 Empuraan and A Minecraft Movie.
Unprecedented IMAX Competition
Normally though, industry insiders say IMAX does not release multiple films at once. But, with three major releases trying to utilize screens, distributors will have to carefully strategize the show allocations. The times for these films on IMAX will become clearer in the days to come.
