Salman Khan’s awaited film, Sikandar, is almost over the wait. As a grand launch is now less than 24 hours away, it is being watched with anticipation by fans as to how it will perform at the box office. But predicted early, the film’s opening won’t reach the expectations set. We will look to why the film’s day 1 might be lower than expected.
Underwhelming Promotional Material

The promotional material has not been striking enough, despite the hype of Sikandar because of Salman Khan and director AR Murugadoss coming together for the first time. The announcement teaser was exciting enough before songs and trailers that followed failed to maintain the hype.
The songs were catching on, but none of them had become massive hits, and the trailer was decent but was not what it took to build that hype. Simply put, the promotional campaign hasn’t created the right kind of buzz to get off to a big opener.

Advance Bookings: Below Expectations

Advance booking trend is one of the most reliable indicators of a film’s potential. Sikandar doesn’t have the luxury of strong advance bookings for Tiger 3 because of an established franchise.
But some of that advance booking for Sikandar has been below expectations, given Salman Khan’s star power and Murugadoss’ direction. It is quite disappointing that a ride like this is expected to do as early estimates peg bookings between 6 and 8 crores.
Day 1 Box Office Prediction
Though the advance bookings are underwhelming, Sikandar will still benefit from its Sunday release; big, heavy on-the-spot bookings are expected, particularly in smaller centers. While it isn’t too bad, the film is expected to make about 34-38 crore on the first day, taking into account recent blockbuster openings.
In the beginning, there were hopes that Sikandar too would have broken the records and even outpaced Tiger 3’s 44.5 crore opening. But these hopes seem unlikely to be fulfilled.
