The long-awaited historical drama Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, has been rescheduled. The movie will hit the theatres on February 14, 2025. Originally planned to be released in December 2024, it will now be released during Valentine’s Week, and the makers have fixed a particular day.
Chhaava was initially set for a December release, but with the festive month crowded with major films, including Pushpa 2, The Rule, and Baby John, the makers wanted to change the movie’s release date to February. This action is assumed to be preemptively driven to prevent competition and achieve a favourable window.
Why on February 14?
First of all, it must be said that the creators of Chhaava have chosen February 14 not only due to the traditional Valentine period. As it falls during Valentine’s Week, the date also carries a historical connotation.
The day is closer to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, which is observed on the 19th of February every year. Chhaava narrates the incidents from the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second son of Shivaji Maharaj, and the date has historical significance.
Chhaava Star Cast and Storyline
In Chhaava, Vicky Kaushal plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife, Yesubai. This generates interest in the movie since Vyborel and Poor have never appeared in a movie together before.
Akshaye Khanna also marks his comeback on the big screen in a character as he plays the role of the Mughal king Aurangzeb. Chhaava is the upcoming film by Laxman Utekar, which is said to be a grand historical epic with a big budget that comprises the essence of the history of India.
